Publication Ethics

This journal adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to address various aspects of publication ethics, primarily focusing on protocols for handling research misconduct and publication violations. Compliance with research ethics principles, as outlined in the Helsinki Declaration for studies involving human subjects, and adherence to the International Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research, formulated by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS), are crucial for all articles published in this journal involving animal subjects.

The adaptation of COPE by the Journal of Nursing Culture and Technology serves to uphold strict ethical practice standards for publishers, editors, authors, and reviewers. Explanation of publication ethics is crucial in enhancing global research standards. This section describes the guidelines set for editors, authors, and reviewers. Additionally, publishers are expected to refrain from exerting influence on content integrity and only provide support for timely publication.

For Editors:
1. Editors are entrusted with the responsibility for all articles published in the Journal of Nursing Culture and Technology.
2. Assistance provided by editors to authors in adhering to author guidelines, originating from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), is highly important.
3. Collaboration between editors and reviewers may be necessary to reach final decisions regarding manuscripts.
4. Evaluation of manuscripts by editors should be impartial, focusing solely on its quality and unaffected by the author's nationality, ethnicity, political views, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation. In circumstances where conflicts of interest may arise, editors are advised to recuse themselves from their editorial duties.
5. Maintaining the anonymity of authors and reviewers in documents exchanged among them is a crucial task for editors.
6. Informing authors about editorial decisions, along with reviewer feedback, is standard practice, except when comments contain inappropriate or defamatory content.
7. Editors are expected to respect requests from authors to exclude specific individuals from reviewing their submissions, provided such requests are reasonable and justified.
8. Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts is a fundamental obligation for editors and the entire journal staff.
9. Editors are directed to comply with the guidelines outlined in the flowchart of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when faced with allegations of misconduct or disputes related to authorship.

For Reviewers:
1. Reviewers are requested to provide feedback on moral inquiries and potential research and publication misconduct.
2. Reviewers are expected to fulfill their duties promptly and are obliged to inform the editor if they are unable to fulfill these duties.
3. Reviewers must uphold manuscript confidentiality.
4. Reviewers are advised not to agree to assess manuscripts if there is a possibility of conflict of interest between them and any of the authors.

For Authors:
1. Authors validate that the material has not been previously published and that they have not delegated any rights to the article elsewhere.
2. Authors must ensure the novelty of their work and have properly referenced the works of others according to the reference format.
3. Authors must refrain from plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
4. Authors must ensure they comply with authorship criteria originating from ICMJE.
5. Authors have obtained written consent and have explicitly stated it regarding patient identity in any form of descriptive sections, images, or family pedigrees, as well as patient images essential for scientific information.
6. In the case of experiments on humans, authors have affirmed that the research process complies with the ethical standards of the Helsinki Declaration, local and international committees overseeing human experiments. If there is uncertainty about whether the research was conducted in accordance with the declaration, authors should clarify it.
7. In cases of animal experiments, authors have confirmed that they have complied with local and international guidelines regarding laboratory animal experiments.
8. Authors must provide data and specifications of their work to the editor if there are suspicions of data falsification or fabrication.
9. Journal authors must disclose anything that could lead to conflicts of interest such as employment, research funding, consultancy fees, and intellectual property in the form of ICMJE disclosure.
