Abstract
Mothers are at risk of experiencing a decrease in breast milk production and output in the first few days after giving birth, which can be caused by a lack of stimulation of the hormones prolactin and oxytocin. One complementary therapy that can help with breast milk flow is oxytocin massage. The objective of this community service project is to determine the effectiveness of oxytocin massage on the success of relactation in postpartum mothers in the Sukalarang Health Centre service area. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a One Group Pre-Test Post-Test Design. The activity was conducted from 18–20 October 2022 in the Sukalarang Health Centre service area. The target population was 20 postpartum mothers in the Sukalarang Health Centre service area. The instruments used were Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and oxytocin massage administration modules, infocus, and PowerPoint slides. Data analysis employed a paired sample t-test. The p-value from the paired sample t-test was (p = < 0.001), indicating that oxytocin massage is effective in improving the success of relactation in postpartum mothers. There is an effect of oxytocin massage application on the success of relactation in postpartum mothers. It is hoped that midwives, health workers, and other healthcare professionals will collaborate to continue providing health education to mothers about the benefits of oxytocin massage application.
